Although the title of this article is ‘’ Using Visual Studio Code with Windows Subsystem for Linux’’, the method described here also works for other GUI applications. This article provides a step-by-step instruction to configure WSL so we can run VS Code on Linux with WSL.
It is even possible we run Linux applications with GUI with WSL. We are also able to run Bash shell scripts and Linux applications on it. With WSL, we can install most major Linux distributions from the Windows Store. The WSL enables the ability for a developer to run Linux environment on Windows 10 without the overhead of a virtual machine.
With the combination of these two, it opens a new way for a software developer writing code. Since Microsoft stated embracing open source, two great features, in my opinion, Microsoft released are:
